“It’s a great story to
tell,” County Chairman Jeff Bohm said. “They’ve really revitalized the
downtown.”
Bohm said the
presentation detailed unique shops that have returned to Marine City in the
last eight years and how the city has had to make some tough changes.
“It’s a great small
town,” Bohm said.
In other news, the board
of commissioners appointed David Whipple of Port Huron to the St. Clair Library
Commission Board. Whipple will replace retiring library chairman Arnold Larson.
“He’s a good man, and
involved in the community,” Bohm said.
Commissioner Tom Reilly
said the board also discussed using natural gas to power facilities at the
county-run Smiths Creek Landfill. The landfill currently uses propane for
operations.
“It’s time to make a
change,” Reilly said. “It’s something I’ll discuss more at our next meeting.”
